Excellent – 4 Bottle Rating: "Still pale green-gold colour with some delicious developed characters showing on the nose and the waxy honeycomb and cumquat marmalade-like flavours on the palate, all nicely intense and beautifully balanced, still with a few years left to go." Graeme Phillips, Sunday Tasmanian
This exceptional wine has benefitted from being aged in the bottle before release. Now displaying some of the sought after characteristics of older Rieslings it displays a surprisingly youthful, lemon blossom bouquet along with its rich, complex palate. With its green apple acid intertwining with layers of lime and grapefruit, it has a finish that goes on and on.

BRONZE (International Cool Climate Wine Show 2010),
BRONZE (Cowra Wine Show 2009)
The trace of palest lime in the colour and the fresh bouquet of this wine hint at the honey dew melon and passion fruit flavours that follow. With slight acidity, the fruit is perfectly balanced with the French oak, providing a long, smooth finish. May be enjoyed now or may be cellared for up to 5 years. An excellent accompaniment to a wide range of seafood.
2008 Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot
SILVER (International Cool Climate Wine Show 2010);
BRONZE (Royal Hobart International Wine Show 2010)
BRONZE (Cowra Wine Show 2010 & 2011)
Observatory Hill is renowned for the exceptional quality of its Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot: both single variety wines and blends. Glenn first planted the cabernet vines in 1991 and has never wavered in his belief that excellent medium bodied, red wines can be produced in Southern Tasmania. The 2006 and 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot vintages continue to prove him correct as did the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot is a medium bodied, dry red cast in the mould of elegant, well balanced, northern European wines. A 50/50 blend, it has ripe redcurrant and berry flavours finishing with fine tannins and good natural acidity.
